We set out to address these questions in a recent research involving nearly 300 adults, mostly college students who were seeking mental health counseling at a university. Though research on gratitude is still relatively young, some researchers have started to address these questions, suggesting why gratitude can be so hard for some of us and what we can do to reach it more easily. While sin no longer has a hold on us and we are no longer slaves to it, we still struggle with sin every day.

Guilt is a wired-in emotion evoked when we believe we have done something bad. Perhaps I took what could have been a healthy dose of guilt, and made it shame.
